This is a release of your rights to sue Jorge Marin Moreno and his company Cozumel Marine World and employees regarding personal injuries or wrongful death that may occur during the forthcoming dives as a result of the inherent risks associated with scuba diving or snorkeling, or as a result of negligence.

A. The dive master’s responsibility will only be to guide you through the reef areas in accordance with safe diving standards. I know that I will be diving in a national park protected by Mexican federal laws, and that any transgression will be my own responsibility. I will neither touch, kick nor grab any coral. 1. I affirm that I am a certified scuba diver trained in safe diving practices, or a student diving under the direct supervision of an instructor. I am aware of the inherent risks of this sport and I assume them. 2. I affirm that I am in good mental and physical fitness for diving. I am not under the influence of alcohol or of any drugs that are contraindicated for diving. If I am taking medication, I affirm that I have seen a physician and have approval to dive while taking it. 3. I am aware that I will be drift diving in a virtually “bottomless” channel, sometimes with strong currents. It will be my responsibility to stay with the group and to monitor my depth frequently. At the end of the dive I will ascend close to the line of the dive guide’s buoy. 4. I understand that on this open water trip I will be at a remote site where no immediate medical or hyperbaric care is available to me. I assume the risk of diving in such remote sites. 5. I declare that I am physically fit to scuba dive or snorkel, and I will not hold Jorge Marin Moreno, his company or his employees responsible if I am injured as a result of breath holding, panic, hyperventilation, heart, lung or ear problems, decompression sickness or any other illness that may occur while diving or snorkeling. 6. I will carefully check all my equipment before diving and will inform the individuals listed above if any of my equipment is not working properly. I will not hold them responsible for my failure to inspect my equipment before diving. 7. In case of emergency, I authorize medical treatment in a recompression chamber. 8. It is my intention, by signing this form, to release Jorge Marin Moreno, his company, his employees and all related entities from all liability for personal injury, property damage or loss, or wrongful death caused by negligence. 9. In case of a lawsuit or litigation, it will be resolved under the laws and in the courts of the United Mexican States, in the State of Quintana Roo. 12. I assume that I am the only one responsible for the expenses of treatment in the hyperbaric chamber, if necessary.

Rental gear and weights

I will return all weights and rentals to the shop counter and will not leave weights on the boat or the pier. Unreturned weights are charged to my dive bill at 3 USD per pound.

Policy reminders

If weather conditions in Cozumel cause the port to close and boats cannot go out on a given day, we will work with you to reschedule your dive for the next available day at no extra charge. Diver safety is our top priority.
Individual divers: all divers should check in at the Cozumel Marine World shop the day before their first day of diving to confirm arrival, complete the required paperwork and get weights and any rental gear. Failure to do so may jeopardize your space on the morning boat or delay your start date.
If for any reason you need to cancel your scheduled dive, please notify us by 4:00 pm the day before, or we cannot offer any refund.
Pre-booked packages and groups: full payment is required at the time of booking, made by the group leader. If a diver in a group does not complete all the dives in the package, we cannot offer a refund unless Cozumel Marine World was responsible for the missed dives. Divers should make every effort to dive on the same days as their group booking.
Reserved boats: if your group has reserved its own boat, please inform us of any changes or cancellations by 4:00 pm on the day before the scheduled dive. Without that notice, we may have to charge your group for any costs incurred.
